Backwater Retriever Club

BRC was founded in 1991 by a group of enthusiasts who wanted to work together to improve their retrievers' abilities in the field as well as improve the future of the breeds through encouraging selective breeding practices.

Today the club draws members from Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Illinois.  Membership affords us the opportunity to showcase our dog’s talents and training, as well as have a lot of fun working with our dogs and other people who share our interests.  We participate in many activities for the retriever breeds, not just hunting.  Agility, obedience and conformation are also important to our members.

BRC runs two hunt tests each year.  Our spring test is held in mid April and our fall test is in September.  In between these big events are several training days, fun days and other activities that our members participate in.  Please come join us!

All Kinds of People, All Kinds of Retrievers

Our members come from all walks of life.  But, all of us share in one common interest – retrievers. Whether it be Labrador retrievers, Chesapeake Bay retrievers, Flat Coated retrievers or any of the other recognized breeds, all are welcome! Please come join us for one of our training days.  Or, call and hook up with a training group and learn some new tricks.  You and your retriever will be glad you did.
