BRC was founded in 1991 by a group of enthusiasts who wanted to work together to improve their retrievers' abilities in the field as well as improve the future of the breeds through encouraging selective breeding practices.
Today the club draws members from Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Illinois. Membership affords us the opportunity to showcase our dog’s talents and training, as well as have a lot of fun working with our dogs and other people who share our interests. We participate in many activities for the retriever breeds, not just hunting. Agility, obedience and conformation are also important to our members.
BRC runs two AKC hunt tests each year. Our spring test is held in April and our fall test is in September. In between these events is our HRC test, which is in June. We are fortunate to have for our use a wide selection of fantastic grounds that provide us plenty of room and a nice variety of situations. We're sure you'll agree...
Please come join us!
Here's how to get a hold of us!
You can be assured that someone in the club is training today. If you want to hook up with someone to train with, ask a question of, get help working on a drill with your dog, or just hang out, get a hold of one of the club officers or board of directors. We'll send you in the right direction. There's usually always something going on. We've been doing this for awhile now, we can help.
To become a member of Backwater Retriever Club you must be sponsored by a current member in good standing, fill out a membership application and pay the club dues.
